nAblement and Mission

by pmaher on December 28, 2009

Pat2Thanks for visiting nablement.com! We hope you’ll find the experience stimulating and that you’ll add your own comments and creativity to ours! Our posts will try to effectively explore the challenges and opportunities surrounding the presence of a disability and the professional IT workforce – with special features like video resumes of our candidates, training links, agency and corporate partner profiles, guest bloggers and more!

With higher percentages of students with disabilities securing undergraduate and often advanced degrees than at any time, we must be passionate and committed to their success.  In turn, they must be equally or even more committed to impressing the business community with their skills, determination and dependability.

Stop back often, visit SPR – our parent company – at www.sprcompanies.com,  and thanks for helping to strengthen opportunities for qualified candidates with disabilities to succeed in the IT workforce of today – and tomorrow!

I enjoyed the video. And, I’m encouraged by nAblement and its mission.

I’ve been a wheelchair user for more than 50yrs. I dealt with a world before curb-cuts; tried to use driveways crossing the sidewalk where possible.

I had to always consider where I was going, before I left, so I could utilize available resources/opportunities to accommodate my needs. That’s a good plan of action today — an indispensable one in the past.

My traveling these days is very limited physically — to much assistive equipment and devices But, not so via the cyber-world!

And, maybe someday, I will be able to see more of the barriers fall — The ones I wrote about on my blog which segregate those of us with physical limitations.

Best wishes to you in 2010.

Dear Gene,

Thanks much for the nice comment on the nAblement effort. We’ll continue to try to move the ball for all of the true pioneers like you who have made life much more manageable for all of us.

Rick, I hope that I had replied to you on this previously. If not, I apologize for the oversight! Yes, feel free to quote me on your blog. I am @nablement on Twitter.
