What was the most impactful learning or confirmation for you during the workshop?

  • I liked that respect was the focus and emphasis. It was also important to state that a disability can happen to any of us at any time.
  • The power of language can have a great impact on appropriate or inappropriate behavior when engaging individuals with disabilities.
  • This workshop was much better than other D&I programs. Here we learned how to act with people with disabilities. In the other workshops – sexual orientation for example- we learned slang terms and stereotypes, but we learned nothing about ways to behave.
  • Thought it was very good – better than those for other D&I topics. Very good.
  • I had no idea that a lot of the words commonly used around disability might be considered offensive.
